Your Dream Vacation is Here

Signature Experience — Island Art Affair

Signature Samoa is a new tour operation, commencing business in 2017, but we have had good discussions with them and sincerely believe that this company will deliver the real Samoan experience without any commercial connotations. They are community based and work closely with their villages to showcase the importance of family and Samoan heritage. Signature Tours are environmentally conscious so, although pricing may be a little higher than regular tours, the experience is 100% authentic and the tour contributes significantly to the local village projects and surrounding ecologies that they have formed relationships with.
Your pick up will be around 9.30 am and from here we head to visit the Tatoo Clinic of the Sa Su’a Suluape clan, one of two master tattooist families, bestowed the right to Ta Tatau. We would hope to view tattooing in progress but this is dependant on scheduling and cannot be guaranteed, however you will see the craft and process.

From here we will take you via the Afiamalu Pass to the Tiapapata Art Centre, nested in the hills above Apia. The centre was founded in 1989 by Steven and Wendy Percival. Wendy specialised in 3D art and ceramics and Steven started with Bone carvings and wood. Here you will see one off art displayed and likely there will be artists-in-residence. We will spend 45 minutes touring the centre and then have a  morning tea break at the centre café
At around 12 noon we will travel around 30 minutes to the Poutasi Village Arts Centre, co-founded by award winning Pacific Artist Fatu Feu’u. En route will be a stop to view Papapapaitai Falls. A 15 minute tour of the centre and the Ukulele factory will be followed by lunch in the arts centre café. This living arts centre will show you some of Samoa’s celebrated art forms and you will partake of a sculpture / wood carving class.
