Your Dream Vacation is Here

Signature Experience — Fa’a Samoa

Signature Samoa is a new tour operation, commencing business in 2017, but we have had good discussions with them and sincerely believe that this company will deliver the real Samoan experience without any commercial connotations. They are community based and work closely with their villages to showcase the importance of family and Samoan heritage.
Signature Samoa is a new tour operation, commencing business in 2017, but we have had good discussions with them and sincerely believe that this company will deliver the real Samoan experience without any commercial connotations. They are community based and work closely with their villages to showcase the importance of family and Samoan heritage.
Your tour will start with a collection from your hotel and then from Sinalei Resort, you will take a local bus ride to Poutasi Village via what is referred to as the “Road to Heaven” – a volcanic route with view of the volcanic peaks and illages en-route.
At this historic village you will be invited to experience first hand age old customs and what it is like to live in a Samoan Village. As part of the tour, the Matai or chief of the village will formally welcome you at the High Chiefs meeting house (Fale Fono). As part of this welcome a formal Kava Ceremony will be held to share with you the significance of this important Samoan ritual.
During the tour you will also see an exhibition of fire knife dancing and try your hands at some of the old traditional Samoan games like Coconut Bowls (Taulofoga) or Javelin (Tagati’a). You will also have the opportunity to visit the Poutasi Arts Centre which was co-founded by internationally recognised artist Fatu Feu’u and has the village ladies showing you how they prepare traditional Tapa, and Samoan Fine Mats. From here guests move to see the Samoan traditional oven (UMU) and cooking  demonstration, followed by a sampling of the local food cooked in this manner
We end the tour in Samoan style with a visit to the ceremonial Fale, where the adies, men and children of our village will sing and dance you farewell.
