Savaiian Tours - North Coast Tour
Savaiian Tours is a quality Tour Operation run by The Savaiian Hotel which
is located just 10 minutes from the Ferry Terminal. The easiest way to take
these tours from Upolu is to have your hotel arrange a taxi for you to the
ferry terminal at Mulifanua, for the early departure at 8.00am to Salelologa,
where your guide will meet you when you come off the ferry with a sign
board and your name.
First stop will be the colourful Salelologa Market before heading up to the northern coats of Savaii.
Stops are made at many natural attractions and areas of historical significance like Sapapalii where Christianity was first introduced to Samoa. You will also visit coastal freshwater springs.
En route up the coast you will pass through scattered coastal villages and then reach the Saleaula lava fields which are the result of the eruption of Mt Matavanu between 1905 and 1911. You will see the old church buildings and the virgins grave.
You will then visit the turtles—Protected Green Turtles in a Government run breeding program. There is an opportunity to get in the water with the Turtles as well.
We then visit the Letui pea’ pea’ cave where we see the local swiftlet which was nearly wiped out with the 1990 cyclones suffered in Samoa.

Ferry Timetable and Tickets
We recommend only the larger ferry which has an air conditioned lounge.
You should be at the terminal 30 minutes before sailing Passenger tickets are purchased from the ticket booth in the middle of the main wharf terminal (it opens about 20 minutes before the ferry
leaves).
Tickets are not available on line or through pre-purchase systems. They are basically sold over the counter on the day of travel like movie tickets (in the old days!) If travelling from Mulifanua, tickets can also be purchased from the information office before each crossing. They are $12 tala per adult and $6 tala per child under 12 yrs ($12 Tala is about USD 5 or NZD 7 per person)
