Whales come to Polynesia’s warm waters from August to October to mate and give birth. Getting up close and personal with these wild sea mammals is an unforgettable experience. The well being of the creature is our top priority and your guide will decide how best to proceed.
From August to October, Humpback whales come into Polynesian waters to reproduce and give birth. An encounter with these cetaceans is always memorable:
If you are lucky enough, brilliant moments awaits you such such as their spectacular breath, their extraordinary jumps part of their courting, complicity between a mother and its youth.
According to the weather conditions and the captain, Swimming with the whales will only be allowed after careful review of the mammals behaviour.
Inclusions – This tour is available during whales’s season only: August 1st to October 31st 3 hours guided tour in a motorized boat; pick-up & drop off; snorkeling equipment; bottle of mineral water.

Whale watching excursions are scheduled daily. However, in case of unfavourable weather forecast, the excursion may be cancelled. No reimbursement should be expected.
Sighting whales at each excursion is of course not guaranteed. No reimbursement should be expected in this case either. Please note that the whale watching activity is authorized by snorkeling only (no scuba-diving). Snorkeling equipment and wet-suit are available on site ; however, you are free to bring your own equipment. Morever, snorkeling with whales is not guaranteed. It will be allowed by the guide depending of the wheather conditions as well as the mammals’ behaviours.
We recommend this activity only to good swimmers as whale watching is always in open waters. The swell can be rough during the whale watching season. We recommend that persons prone to seasickness acquire the adequate preventive products.
Itinerary and order of the visited sites may change without prior notice according to weather conditions or other circumstances. Most excursions require healthy conditions. Pregnant women/disabled guests/babies… our services must be notified in advance!
Our water activities require guests to know how to swim, to be comfortable in the water, and able to cope with occasional currents. Guests are cautioned not to touch or step on the coral reef, or touch any underwater animals for safety and environmental reasons. We recommend reef shoes in order to avoid any wounds or discomfort. Wildlife sightings are likely but never guaranteed.
All tours have been regularly tried out in order to give the most accurate information and advice. Each guest should carefully review the tour description to evaluate its own physical limits.
Guests are recommended to wear comfortable appropriate attire including shoes (walking, water or hiking as needed), sun protection (cream, hat, and rash guard), insect repellent, sunglasses, and bring a bottle of water.
