Tahiti Island Tour- Half Day (Afternoon Tour)

Take a tour on a trip around the island and discover some of the Treasures of Tahiti. Start with the West Coast and the famous Marae Arahurahu, religious site dedicated to the ancient gods where important ceremonies used to take place. Then continue with the visit of the beautiful gardens and waterfall of Vaipahi set in a lush tropical environment. Do not miss the East Coast with the waterfall, the Blow Hole, natural sites recently rehabilitated for visitors or the famous Venus Point, who saw Captain James Cook landed. Then wrap up your island tour by a breathtaking panoramic view at the Taharaa View Point.

WEST COAST 

MARAE ARAHURAHU Tahiti’s best example of Marae – ancient Polynesian temples and meeting places – in all of Polynesia that has been fully restored, and is now maintained like a museum. The marae is now used for the reenactment of old Polynesian ceremonies during the July Heiva Nui celebrations. Toilets available at this stop.

MARAA GROTTOES 

Located at the foot of a cliff along the main road, visit the impressive grottos filled with a lake of pure water. 

VAIPAHI GARDEN 

Located in the district of Mataiea, the Vaipahi Gardens displays a wonderful selection of endemic plants set in a very exotic decor. A lovely waterfall adds up to the charm of the place. A charming little boutique displays handycrafts items to be purchased for souvenirs. Fresh local season fruits also available. Toilets available at this stop.

 EAST COAST 

FAARUMAI WATERFALL Walk to the most impressive of the 3 waterfalls of this natural site. The surroundings have been totally rearranged for an easy access to visitors. Dip your feet in the cool spring water!

ARAHOHO BLOW HOLE A lavatube designed by liquid lava flowing under cold and hard lava, creating a channel. When waves crash against the rocks and enter this channel, the result is a powerful sea water geyser that showers on lookers.

VENUS POINT Located in the north on the edge of Matavai Bay, it was the special scene of successive landings of European navigators. James Cook named it after the planet in commemoration of the transit of Venus that was observed during one of his scientific voyage to Tahiti. It is also one of the most beautiful black sand beaches in Tahiti. Toilets available at this stop. 

TAHARAA LOOKOUT

Also known as One Tree Hill the Tahaaraa lookout point gives you an outstanding 360° view on part Tahiti and Moorea in the background. A stop not to be missed for some memorable pictures.
