11 Night Lau and Kadavu Discovery Cruise – 19 March 2024
The full 7 night Lau itinerary plus Oneata and Taveuni. Highlights: The mystical caves and mushroom shaped islands of Qila Qila, the pristine waters of the flooded volcanic crater of Fulaga.
If you want to experience the real Fiji, join us on MV Reef Endeavour as we explore the Lau Islands and Kadavu; a beautiful and remote region rarely seen by tourists. A visit to this region offers a once in a lifetime experience to a select few travellers, visiting turquoise bays and remote villages where they only see a supply boat once a month.
Cruise highlights include a swim at a waterfall, exploring old ruins, snorkelling untouched reefs and getting up close with nesting turtles. You’ll also explore the caves, reefs and lagoons of Qilaqila renowned for its mushroom-shaped islands, and the central lake on uninhabited Vuaqava island where you’ll find turtles, snakes and amazing bird life. Best of all, you’ll be welcomed and entertained by the friendly people of this region and experience a traditional Meke, Sevusevu and lovo quite different from the traditional Fijian feast.
The Lau Island Group consists of 57 islets, of which only 30 are inhabited and if you enjoy getting off the beaten track these islands are for you, with no public transport or restaurants to be found. The Kadavu Group is made up of four main islands, of which Kadavu is the largest. It is home to the Great Astrolabe Reef, one of the world’s largest barrier reefs and a renowned site for premier diving.
Most days offer the opportunity to snorkel, swim and scuba dive the pristine waters of these beautiful islands and when you’re not experiencing all that they have to offer, you’ll enjoy the relaxing hospitality aboard the MV Reef Endeavour. Here you’ll be pampered with most of the luxuries found on larger cruise liners including fully catered buffet and 3-course meals prepared fresh daily onboard, a freshwater swimming pool, jacuzzi, day spa, cocktail bar and much more.

LAU & KADAVU CRUISE FAQ'S
MV Reef Endeavour may be smaller than some cruise liners, but we’re big on life’s little luxuries. We offer international cuisine with a Fijian influence prepared fresh daily by our team of chefs, a Captain’s Kids Club for children aged 5 – 9 years, plus a gym, jacuzzi, day spa and swimming pool. If you’re interested in Fiji’s natural wonders, we have a resident marine biologist onboard. Our cruises also include daily island stopovers, a big choice of water-based activities such as kayaking, snorkelling, diving and stand-up paddle boarding plus guided island, village and school tours and traditional lovo feasts all included in the price.
Captain Cook Cruises cater for all kinds of travellers, with short 3 and 4 night cruises for those on a tight schedule who still want a holiday. But if you only have limited time available, our 11 night cruise is not for you. This holiday is for those who want to switch off for a while and enjoy the rhythms of natural Fiji, exploring new destinations and cultures one day at a time. No clocks, no WiFi (except when there’s reception) and no schedule other than having a relaxing, interesting and indulgent day doing as much or as little as you please.
We want you to have a unique holiday with us, so we try to make our cruises as flexible as possible by customising them wherever we can. For example, our chefs can cater for most diets and food allergies and if you’re celebrating a special event, we can help organise it, whether it’s a party or a wedding on a Fijian beach. We’ve also customised our cruises, with a choice of 3, 4, 7 and 11 nights depending on your available time. We also provide complimentary pick-up and drop-off at most Mamanuca resorts every Saturday and the option to join or disembark from some of our Remote North cruises in either Vanua Levu or Taveuni.
All our itineraries include a visit to a local school and village, where we ask that you cover your knees and shoulders and remove your hat and sunglasses in line with local customs. The local way to cover your knees is with a sulu or sarong for men and women. There is normally a ‘no obligation’ donation box at each school where donations of sporting equipment, clothing, stationery or books are always welcome (no lollies or candy please). If you’d rather not make a donation, another way you can help is by purchasing some of the locally made arts and crafts at the village market.
MV Reef Endeavour offers most of the facilities and amenities you’d expect to find on a large cruise ship. These include chef prepared meals made fresh daily onboard, 4 levels of luxurious accommodation, free WiFi when available, 24/7 tea and coffee making facilities, a kids club for children aged 5 to 9 years and even an onboard marine biologist providing cultural tours and eco presentations. We also have a mini gym, jacuzzi, day spa, swimming pool. dining saloon, cocktail bar, conference room, guest laundry, library and gift shop. Plus some additional services are available for a cost such as spa treatments and PADI diving courses.

“ This is our 12th cruise, mostly on large liners and to be honest this is the most fun we have ever had. The crew were fantastic and all the guests got to know one another. We love Fiji having visited many times and certainly hope to do another Captain Cook cruise.
