CAPTAIN TAMA’S LAGOON CRUISE
Captain Tamas award winning Lagoon Cruise is undoubtedly one of the best ways
to discover and experience the stunning Muri lagoon.
To begin your tour you will be picked up from your accommodation and transferred to the departure point in Muri. You will then cruise across the beautiful Muri
lagoon to a protected reserve where many species of marine life dwell. You will
have the chance here to snorkel and feed the fish before heading to a motu
(small islet). On the motu you can enjoy more swimming, a stroll around the island
or just relax in the sun while your friendly crew prepare a scrumptious Fish BBQ lunch
served with local fruits and side dishes.
You will be well entertained through-out the tour by your crew who are also a well
known local string band N.S.A (No Strings Attached). They guarantee you a fantastic time. On the motu following lunch, your crew will explain and demonstrate the
many uses of our tree of life ‘the coconut tree. There will also be a pareu (sarong)
tying show where with a couple volunteers from the cruise, your crew will demonstrate how a simple and beautiful printed piece of material can be worn in style for
many occasions.
Although the lagoon is sheltered and protected by the fringing coral reef, Captain
Tama still places great importance on Safety First. All Glass Bottom Boats are
equipped with full safety gear including Life jackets and snorkelling vests for the
young and old, a radio and mobile phones. All crew are well versed in Water Rescue and First Aid. They are also a lot of fun to be around.
TOUR HIGHLIGHTS
Marine Reserve
The protected reserve is full of different species of marine life, including giant clams, many types of fish, and if lucky the occasional turtle, sting-ray or Charlie the moray eel will be there to greet you. For many years Captain Tamas has supported the initiative to protect our precious lagoon for our future generations, and each year donates a percentage of sales to marine conservation, you will see the results of this effort while snorkelling.
