DAY 1 — SAN JOSE Arrive in San José, Costa Rica’s capital, and enjoy your first taste of Tico hospitality.

DAY 2 — TORTUGUERO Wake up early this morning and drive through the spectacular cloud forest in the Braulio Carrillo National Park. Continue on a riverboat journey, which will take you to your lodge in Tortuguero. Enjoy spotting the wildlife as you travel, looking out for the West Indian manatee, caimans or spider monkeys hanging down over the river! All meals are included while in Tortuguero. Not included is the Park Entrance.

DAY 3 — TORTUGUERO Wake up in Tortuguero National Park, home to the most important green sea turtle nesting ground in the Western Caribbean.  Today’s sightseeing adventure within the park includes boat tours and hiking. The park is comprised of a series of canals, mangroves, swamps and lagoons that create perfect opportunities to study not only the vegetation but also the multitude of wildlife.

DAY 4 — SAN CARLOS Depart Tortuguero this morning and drive to the northern plains region of San Carlos. Arrive in the small town of La Fortuna. From here, you’ll have a spectacular view of the Arenal Volcano, a perfect cone more than 5,000 feet high and one of the most active in the world

DAY 5 — SAN CARLOS Drive to the beautiful La Fortuna Waterfall and hike to the swimming hole below. In the evening, visit the hot springs where you can take a dip in the hot pools. As you relax in the therapeutic waters, look up at the crimson lava oozing out from the volcano above!

DAY 6 — GUANACASTE COAST Drive past Arenal Lake to Costa Rica’s northern Pacific coast, an area containing one of the last tropical dry forests on the planet. Here you’ll rest near the beautiful white beaches of the Guanacaste coast.

DAY 7 — GUANACASTE COAST Enjoy a free beach day.  Development projects are limited along the coastline to preserve the ecosystem, making this a wonderful place to enjoy Costa Rica’s pristine beaches.

DAY 8 — SAN JOSE Journey back to San José today. Stop in Sarchí, the hub of Costa Rica’s arts and crafts trade. Be sure to see the famous Sarchí ox-carts and leather rocking chairs. Arrive in San José for your last night.

DAY 9 — DEPARTURE Transfer to the airport, for your return flight home.

DAY 1 — SAN JOSE Depart Home. Arrive in the capital of Costa Rica and check into your hotel.

DAY 2 — SAN CARLOS This morning, travel to the beautiful province of Alajuela. The rest of the day is free for you to relax. This evening, view the Arenal Volcano, possibly the most active volcano in the world, then enjoy a swim in the therapeutic waters of the hot springs at its base. On a clear night, it may be possible to see the spectacular orange glow of lava flowing. Spend the night in San Carlos, the agriculture capital of the north.

DAY 3 — SAN CARLOS Travel north today to splendid Caño Negro, along the mighty Río Frío. Comprised of swamp and marshlands, Caño Negro covers about 1,977 acres in the wet season. Enjoy the boat trip while you share company with exotic creatures such as osprey, storks, caiman and monkeys, as well as the unique garfish, which have lungs, gills and a nose. Lunch will be included today instead of dinner. Return to San Carlos for a night’s rest.

DAY 4 — MONTEVERDE Depart on your once-in-a-lifetime adventure of riding horseback from the Arenal area toward the lush cloud forest of Monteverde. Your bags will travel by bus and will meet you in Monteverde. Anyone unable to ride on horseback may travel on the touring bus. Arrive at your destination with a new understanding of how the locals travel.

DAY 5 — MONTEVERDE Today, explore this beautiful cloud forest. Founded in the 1950s by a group of Quakers from Alabama, Monteverde Cloud Forest is home to more than 400 species of birds, 100 species of mammals and 2,500 species of plants. This afternoon you will swing far above the forest floor on the world famous Monteverde Canopy Tour.

DAY 6 — MANUEL ANTONIO Journey to Manuel Antonio, where the forest meets the Pacific coastline. Spend the rest of the day getting a feel for the local culture and relaxing in beautiful natural surroundings.

DAY 7 — MANUEL ANTONIO Enjoy a full day in Manuel Antonio National Park, one of the most stunning parks in Costa Rica with lush forests and picturesque white sand beaches. Spend the day exploring the park and its wildlife.

DAY 8 — SAN JOSE Enjoy a free morning on the white sand beach. In the afternoon drive to San José for your last night in this beautiful country.

DAY 9 — DEPARTURE Transfer to the airport, for your return flight home.

DAY 7 — MONTEVERDE Enjoy a full day to discover the cloud forest with your guide. Included is an adventurous Monteverde Canopy Tour through the trees for a bird’s-eye perspective of life in the forest.

DAY 8 — Punta Leona Journey to the Carara Biological Reserve, where the dry tropical forest meets the northern, greener forest. Arrive at Punta Leona Hotel, offering a crystalline white sand beach and perfect trails into the tropical dry forest.

DAY 9 — Punta Leona Today there is a full-day excursion to Manuel Antonio National Park. Your guide leads you on a hike along the trails and shows you the numerous untouched beaches where you can choose to snorkel or meet the friendly, white-faced monkeys.

DAY 10 — Punta Leona Today is free. Why not enjoy a relaxing day on the Pacific coast?

DAY 11 — SAN JOSE Enjoy a free morning on the beach today. Return to the capital, for your last night at Paradise.

DAY 12 — DEPARTURE Transfer to the airport.
